Disney premieres ‘Jungle Cruise’ movie on July 16
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 27, 2021/PR Newswire/ — The Walt Disney Company will hold a premiere on July 16 at Disneyland in Los Angeles and will release the movie July 30.
“Jungle Cruise” stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Frank Wolff and Emily Blunt as Dr. Lily Houghton in an adventure along the Amazon River.
“Working with an amazing co-star and creative director will make this movie one that I’ll never forget,” Johnson said. “I look forward to being part of a team that adds to the Disney legacy of outstanding films.”
The movie centers around Houghton, a researcher in London, who leaves to find an ancient healing tree with the power to change the future of medicine. She enlists the help of Wolff, an experienced skipper, to help navigate the dangers and supernatural forces they encounter.
Blunt said she is honored to play such an exciting role. “My role as Dr. Lily Houghton intrigues me because it will be physically demanding and require me to use all my acting skills,” she added.
Disney hired Jaume Collett-Serra to direct the movie. “I’m excited about working with a great cast for this epic adventure story and delivering a product that lives up to Disney’s reputation for high quality family entertainment,” he said.
